2005年12月18日，13时08分，衡阳至大浦高速公路正式建成通车。 “衡大”东接京珠高速大浦互通，跨越衡阳市衡南县、珠晖区、石鼓区和衡东县，西至衡阳市西外环线的柳公塘。全长25．93公里，总投资9．46亿元，2003年7月开工建设。该路是衡阳市连接京珠高速的一条重要运输通道，与建设中的衡阳至炎陵高速公路对接，又是国家高速公路网福建泉州至广西南宁高速公路湖南境内的重要一段，也有利于进一步完善湖南省高速公路主骨架。
